Tips for Couples Sessions

I have a number of couples sessions and families coming up, so I thought I'd post a few tips that will help your experience with me, or any photographer go better:

Taking your sweetheart out for a romantic photography session is something that every couple should try at least once.

The shoot can be serious, intimate, or playful and funny. Just as long as the photos reflect the two of you and your relationship.

My personal favorite romantic photographs are black and white.

The best part is that you'll have a life long souvenir for years to come. Growing old together you can look back at yourselves like your frozen in time.

Here are some tips on how you can end up with the best photos possible:

* Do a little research online to find some romantic photos that you really like. Print them out and bring them along with you to show the photographer exactly what you want. Or email them to the photographer so they can bring the right filters/etc.

* Bring outfits that will compliment each other. If you're going for a dressy look, make sure you both have something dressy to match. Ladies, this means pack for your man if you need to!

* Bring more outfits than you think you'll need. Who knows, you might have only planned on doing dressy shots, but once you get there the photographer has a great idea that suits more casual clothes. If you're prepared with many different looks and you can't go wrong.

* Women should show up with simple hair and makeup, and bring along whatever is needed to fix themselves up while they're there (makeup, hair accessories, ect.)Don't forget your makeup bag, you will want to touch up!

* Bring props. These really come in handy, especially if you aren't sure what to do with yourself in front of a camera. They also help create a story to a picture.

* Try to bring clothes to wear that are close to your skin tone. If you're very pale, don't wear a black dress. The contrast can be hard for a photographer to get right. The same is true with dark skin tones. Don't bring something all white to wear if your skin tone is very dark.

* For women: Try a spray on tan, or some clip-in hair extensions. They're quick and not too expensive, and if you like the look, it'll be worth it.
